A Comprehensive Guide To Body and Mind Detox and Cleansing
Detox is the latest buzzword in the global alternative health community, and it is fast infiltrating the mainstream. A majority of health-conscious individuals, aware of the amount of toxins the human body is subjected to on a daily basis in the 21st century, are now seeking ways to effectively support the body's elimination and cleansing capacity.
The Detox Bath: How Does It Work?
The human race has made significant discoveries in the field of healthcare and healing, which have positively impacted the quality of our lives forever. Sadly, some of these discoveries were buried by the sands of time, as they were superseded by modern science, medicine and technology.
The method you are about to learn on this page is based on hydrotherapy, which has been known for its tremendous therapeutic benefits since the dawn of civilisation. Hydrotherapy uses exclusively water to alleviate pain, increase mobility, relieve symptoms, and generally improve the overall functioning of the body. It encompasses numerous techniques using hot or cold water, and sometimes alternating both, to stimulate body responses. Read more
The Origin of The Detox Bath
Back in Germany in the 1880s, Louis Kuhne, the father of detox -hailed by his contemporaries as "A genius in the art of healing"- was a respected and reputed naturopath and healer. He devised the Friction Sitz Bath to treat his own cancer and heal hundreds of various diseases. Through his doctrine of The Unity of Diseases, Kuhne demonstrated that all disease was caused by an accumulation of toxins in the body. He established a centre in Leipzig where he successfully treated patients with previously "incurable" diseases by altering their diet and using his unique hydrotherapy panacea -most notably the Friction Sitz Bath- from which the Detox Bath is inspired. Drink Plenty Of Water

Detox Skin Brushing
The skin is a major elimination organ, it is known to be responsible for 10% of total body elimination, and is sometimes referred to as the 3rd kidney.
Not only does Dry Skin Brushing improve the appearance of the skin by eliminating dead cells and helping new skin to regenerate, it also stimulates blood circulation, the lymphatic system and enhances toxin elimination.
In addition, the massaging effect of the bristles is known to have a highly beneficial effect on cellulite.
The technique is very simple and takes between 3 and 5 minutes.
Choose a NATURAL bristle brush with a long handle or a loofah.
Start with your feet, brushing (small circular motions are best), up towards your legs and buttocks, always work your way towards the heart. Next, brush your hands, again working towards the centre of the body. Then it's the buttocks and the back towards the stomach and the heart, and finally the neck and the face. Go gently over sensitive areas, or use a gentler brush or flannel, and insist on cellulite and fat areas.
Always brush skin when it's DRY. Skin Brushing is best when done in the morning, just before your shower or bath. Read more
